First of all I want to thank you for your kind and friendly advice in guiding my first steps in Panoramic photography. Then, I would like to express my appreciation for the highly professional quality of the Nodal Ninja System, the ease of use and the great design. As I told you over the phone, I upgraded to the 5L (+90 degrees detent rings) with a little regret. The NN3 MKII is just fabulous, lightweight and fits perfectly in my kit but unfortunately my current set up is a little too heavy, hence the necessary upgrade. I am glad I get to keep at least the EZ-Leveler II and I am looking forward to receiving the NN 5L to continue my panoramic activities. Thanks again for all your help. For my sphericals I use a NN3 or alternatively an R1 on a ski stick; due to the low weight the perfect ones for my tours. Thomas W. Facebook

Sandal Ponds - Just a couple weeks ago I had the same exact question on my mind as you do. I think what really sealed the deal for me was looking through the forums and reading some of the great advice here. I actually plan on upgrading my camera so I went with the NN5 + rd16 + ez-leveler II setup. I promise you will not be disappointed. At first i did not plan on getting the ez - leveler II for cost reasons but I can tell you it is well worth it. I am very happy with the setup I have and amazed at the stability and ease of use! There are no con's in my mind on the decision I made! Sure it cost a little more but that will only prove a good decision down the road! Hope this helps! vibes35 NN forum

Product: RS-2 Ring Mount Spherical Pano Head Starter Package (F9710) Posted By: David Woodward - I've had an RS-2 for about 6 months, I use it with an RD5 rotator and Sigma 15mm Nikon D800. I shoot 6 around and one zenith. Once calibrated its easy to use and reliable. So the RS - 2 is very good, it's solid and fast. For the D800 the setup has to be solid, I use with an 057 Carbon Manfrotto and Manfrotto levelling head.

Upon testing i was afraid from the start and having a second thought why i ordered NN4 which i was really satisfied with NN3, as the upper rotator stops only at 0 and 15 degrees. which i was shooting at 10 degress up.. then i remembered reading the description that it has an offset value for 5, 7.5 and 10 degrees but no instructions on how. i tried to teardown the upper rotator and figured how to change the offset value to 10 degrees up. Now i can say it was the best panoramic head ever existed. Very easy to use and indeed worth the money. But please include instructions on how to change the offset value of the upper rotator. Others might need it as well..

Using the M1L to M2 Upgrade kit Product: M1L to M2 upgrade with 65mm QRC (F8112) Posted By: Michel Thoby - As expected and due the accuracy and stiffness required by the smallish 2 degrees minimum intervals, the R8-II rotator drum has quite a hefty diameter. The subsequent problem is then to find a new arrangement inside the FANOTEC case that is just roomy enough to accommodate the new "bigger baby". A 55 mm Arca-Swiss clamp seems sturdy enough to hold the horizontal arm while the 60 mm clamp would probably be better. I might have preferred to find real mechanical stops instead of simple "indicators" for the starting and ending positions although the present system works as expected... except if the Advanced Rotator Handle is put in the lowest of the threaded holes on the R8-II cylinder where it then interferes with the indicator tiny blue teeth and thus screws-up all the angular pre-settings! The new upper rotator is IMO just perfect even when it is deprived of the (optional) positive stops. The ability to adjust the rotation friction is amazing and the user can feel plainly how the control on the elevation angle adjustment is both smooth and accurate. All the new components of the upgrade kit are easy to install to replace the M1 counterparts while I think some documentation would/could be "useful" to some customers.

Among the Best Solutions Product: Kolor Autopano Giga 3.5 (S1110) Posted By: Robert S - This product did an excellent job with a difficult 61 frame by 7 bracketed images indoor spherical panorama that had mostly dimly lit artwork but two large stained glass windows. The product matched up the 427 images flawlessly in a reasonable amount of time. Using 12GB of memory and 8 Xeon cores, it still takes over an hour but this is faster than competing products. No product that I have tested seems to handle the severe contrast of the bright and colorful stained glass juxtaposed to dimly lit features. I receive compliments on the work from non - professionals, but I may need to generate manual masks in Photoshop to get that last 2% of performance I am seeking. Overall, an excellent product, one I hope the developers continue to improve.

Refreshing Product: NN3 MKII Starter Package (F3500) Posted By: Jeff - How refreshing it is to buy something that is worth what you paid. I don't usually write reviews, but I was inspired. Light weight, solid, easy to assemble, notched disc for precision panoramic shots, well designed, spare parts, etc.. I have a 7D, and the NN3 supports the weight of the camera without shake. If it's not already obvious, I highly recommend the NN3.

However, it was iritating that I had to buy a separate base to get 60 degree click stops for my DX format camera instead of being able to use the one that came with the Ninja unit. they should tell you that 90 degree stops are good only for full frame and that you'll need to pony up another $90 for a pano base that works will all cameras. {Nodal Ninja reply: The Google Trusted photographer package has been created per Google's requirements and its workflow requirement of shooting 4-90 degree hemispheres. The option to shoot with a 60 degree rotator is an option outside Google's requirements and should not be viewed as a detriment to the entire package. Remember you purchased the GTP pkg - for people wanting to customize the setup it is recommended to purchase the R1 which gives you greatest flexibility. There is no added charge for swapping rotators}

Nodal Ninja reply: The Ultimate M series heads are more designed for the professional using bigger and heavier gear. The nadir adapter only mounts one way and uses 2 screws. Because of varying workflows we do not teach how to shoot panoramas - we merely provide support and for the right product to the right gear.
