An 8–15 mm fisheye lens is highly versatile for panoramic photography, offering everything from a full circular image at the wide end to a diagonal fisheye that fills the frame at longer focal lengths. At the widest settings, fewer shots are required, which minimizes parallax errors, simplifies stitching, and enables faster, more efficient spherical panorama capture. At the telephoto end, taking more shots yields higher overall resolution.
On a full‑frame camera, this lens can produce a complete spherical panorama in just three shots at 8 mm, or in four shots at 12–13 mm. Many photographers consider the four‑shots‑around method the ideal balance of speed and image quality for high‑volume real‑estate photography and virtual‑tour production.
On APS‑C bodies, the lens delivers an effective focal length equivalent to 12–13 mm when set to 8 mm.
