Shooting in Step-by-Step Mode with MECHA

Today, we will talk about shooting in step-by-step mode, which is a type of custom shooting. In this mode, MECHA pauses before each position and waits for you to click or press a button to advance to the next position.

As you might know, pauses and even pause lengths can be set directly in preset scripts. However, we will not cover that subject in today's video.

We will load a simple factory preset: FE 12mm NZ Level in the Presets list on the User Interface. It is loaded but not launched yet.

When launching a preset from the User Interface, you can launch it as usual by clicking the LEFT or RIGHT button, or you can launch it in step-by-step mode.

Example 1:
Launching a preset in step-by-step mode using the User Interface.
The only difference compared to a usual launch is that you have to enter the pause mode first. So, click the PAUSE button, and see the button caption changes to NEXT.
Then click either the LEFT or RIGHT button.
This is a way to tell MECHA you want to shoot in step-by-step mode from the very beginning.

The regular photos of the preset are taken as usual, without any additional action on your part. However, if you want to take extra photos, use the SHOOT button in the User Interface. Sometimes, you may just need to wait for people and objects to go out of the camera's field of view without taking any extra photos. Then, click the NEXT button to advance to the next position. The current regular photo is also taken at this moment. It will be a set of photos if the camera trigger signals per position are greater than 1.

The CANCEL button can be used to cancel a preset execution if necessary.
We will not cancel the preset execution this time but will continue it in step-by-step mode by clicking the NEXT button. This is the last position in our preset.

Example 2:
Switching to step-by-step mode using the controller buttons. First, launch the preset as usual from the User Interface or using the controller buttons. For example, if your preset is assigned to button 1, you can launch it by pressing that button and either the left or right button on the controller.

We are using a MECHA Dual Axis Combo here for this example.

While the preset is running, first, you have to press the left button for about one second to enter pause mode, then press the right button to advance to the next position. And press it again to continue in the step-by-step mode. While in pause mode, you can press the left button to exit the step-by-step mode and continue automatically.

The power button on the controller can also be used to cancel a preset execution.

Example 3:
Launching a preset in step-by-step mode using the C2's OLED menu. In the Config menu, find the 'STEP by STEP' option and make sure it is enabled. Press the center button to change it from OFF to ON if necessary.

C1 users can use the code 21< to enable or disable the step-by-step mode. It has the same function as the 'STEP by STEP' option in the C2's OLED menu.

Next, access the Preset menu and find the preset you want to launch, then press the center button to launch it. Follow the instructions if additional actions are requested.

'STEP by STEP' being ON, MECHA pauses before each position, as usual, and waits for you to press the right button to advance to the next position, resulting in step-by-step movement. While in pause mode, you can press the left button to exit the step-by-step mode and continue automatically.

We will not cancel the preset execution this time.

The NN IR remote can also be used to exit step-by-step mode, advance to the next position, and perform other functions.

We have not exhausted all the aspects related to shooting in step-by-step mode, but we hope that we have at least clarified the basic notions. Thank you for watching, and until next time, happy shooting!
