For firmware 02057 or newer. 
1) Power the lower MECHA ON by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.
2) When the green LEDs show: - = - = - =
press and hold the button 1 until multiple beeps are heard, or press 3 seconds (one LED will blink).
3) Power the upper MECHA ON by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds.
4) When the green LEDs show - = - = - =
press and hold the button 2 until multiple beeps are heard, or press 3 seconds (two LEDs will blink).

When the units are paired, the middle led of the lower MECHA and two LEDs of the upper MECHA should be lit.
