Simple and Advanced modes are operating modes specific to the C2 Controller. Simple Mode is active by default and is the first option on the C2 Config Menu. It corresponds to the "Simple Mode" checkbox on the Configuration page, which is also checked by default.
In today's video, we will discuss key differences between the Simple and Advanced Modes.
C2’s button behavior depends on whether Simple or Advanced Mode is active.
Also, if a menu option is selected, the controller buttons have different functionalities.
The C2 Controller does not have numerical buttons. The minus, plus, and menu buttons should be used to enter numerical codes and to perform simple rotations.
The center button allows you to switch between the Simple and Advanced Modes.
No other action is necessary for this purpose.
Let's examine the main difference between Simple and Advanced Modes. In Advanced Mode, you can press the power button to exit a menu, while in Simple Mode, exiting a menu is not possible. This functionality prevents accidental commands to MECHA. In other words, Simple Mode eliminates the need to enter menus; only switching between menus is necessary.
To enter menus in Advanced Mode, long-press the menu button. Then, switch between menus as usual by pressing the menu button.
To perform simple rotations in Simple Mode, switch to the Preset menu, navigate to the "SIMPLE ROTATIONS" option, and press the center button to confirm.
In Advanced Mode, you can perform simple rotations whenever MECHA is idle.
Simple rotations are predefined rotations of 45, 90, and 180 degrees, usually, and they can be performed using simple button combinations. The combination of one of the arrow buttons and the minus button is used for rotations of 45 degrees, and similarly, the plus and menu buttons are used for rotations of 90 and 180 degrees, respectively.
A C2 menu option can be set as a favorite in Advanced Mode only. A favorite option can be used simply by long-pressing a button. Let's see how to set an option as a favorite. Ensure Advanced Mode is active first. Then, navigate to the desired option—for example, “IP Address”—and press the minus button. The IP Address is now set as favorite option number 1. That means anytime you need to see the IP address, just long-press the minus button when MECHA is idle (exiting the menu first if necessary). Similarly, another option can be set as favorite option 2 by pressing the plus button when that option is selected.
Another functionality available in Advanced Mode only is the use of codes. C2 users don’t need to use codes too much, though, as it is much easier to select an OLED option than to switch to Advanced Mode and enter a code.
Let’s see an example. Ensure Advanced Mode is active, then exit the Config Menu with the power button. The code 3212 can be used to show the firmware version on the OLED display. To enter this code, press menu, plus, minus, then the plus button, and confirm by pressing the left arrow button. Alternatively, and much easier, users can select the "FIRMWARE VERSION" option from the OLED Config menu on page 8.
Similarly, to launch presets using the controller buttons, ensure Advanced Mode is active first. The presets that can be launched using the controller buttons are those assigned to the controller buttons and those whose names begin with a power code.
To assign a preset to a controller button, simply save the preset using the "Save 1", "Save 2", and "Save 3" buttons in the User Interface. "Save 1" assigns a preset to the minus button. To launch that preset, you will use the minus button and either the left or right button.
A power code is a maximum 7-digit code that you can create as follows: the first digit must be zero, and the subsequent digits should be a combination of 1, 2, and 3, ensuring no two identical digits appear consecutively.
Example: 01, 023, 0123, 02123, 0123123, etc.
The name of a preset should begin with such a code to allow you to launch the preset with the Controller buttons.
For example, a preset whose name begins with "0123" can be launched by pressing power (as the power button is used to enter zero), then minus, plus, menu, and finally either the left or right button to specify the direction of rotation.
Finally, and importantly, the first part of the C2 user’s guide assumes Simple Mode is active, while the second part presents advanced features related to the User Interface and functionalities available only in Advanced Mode.
