  • Quick access to rail measurements.

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some information from someone who's done the hard yards already. I'm looking to get the rail measurements for the lower rail and upper rail for a canon5d mkII with a 8mm sigma lens 1:3.5. Would you be able to help? I have an NN6 with rotator

Don't worry about rail measurements, just set the upper rail so that the NPP (No Parallax Point) is on the axis of rotation of the upper arm and the center of the lens is vertically above the axis of rotation of the lower arm.
A good starting point for the NPP for a Sigma 8mm lens is the gold ring - http://www.hugh360.co.uk/measurement...int-of-a-lens/
Note, it is the lens that governs the position, not the camera body, as the NPP relates to the lens.
Thee are some images on http://www.hugh360.co.uk/panoramas/u...e-nodal-point/ which may be of help.
A simple way to set up the lower rail is the turn the top rail vertical and make the center of the lens see center of the axis or rotation.
