  1. Ultimate M1 with Sigma 8mm f/3.5 ex dg

I own a Nodal Ninja Ultimate M1 pano head with nadir adapter. I use it with a nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 on a D800 with great results.

For the Google Trusted Photographer program (google business view for google places), the google software cannot stitch the pictures of a nikkor 14-24mm together. So i have to switch to a Sigma 8mm f/3.5 ex dg.

My question: Can i use the Ultimate M1 with the Sigma 8mm f/3.5 ex dg? Will parts of the Ultimate M1 show up in the pictures because of this extreme the 180° sigma fisheye lens?

I know the R10 is a better and easier choice for the sigma 8mm, but i do not want to buy another panohead unless the Ultimate M1 is hopeless to work with in combination with the sigma 8mm.

    Anyone who tried this setup?

    Thank you

It's possible to use the 8mm lens but the upper rotator does intrude a little on one side of the image circle. OTOH, an 8mm fisheye wastes a lot of pixels on a fullframe camera. If you can use DX mode to obtain an APS-C size frame, then the problem is eliminated. See these FX-DX comparison images (simulated with a 5DII + 8mm image):

With sufficient overlap, the stitcher would ignore the intrusive hardware anyway.

You need to mount the camera on the upper rail in the manner of a NN4 or NN5 rather than at the end of the rail so that the front end of the rail doesn't stick out to cause a further intrusion. There are various ways of doing this. See this thread: http://www.nodalninja.com/forum/show...L-with-fisheye. I did it like this:

For the Google Trusted Photographer program, you need to ask Google or their moderators. It depends on their stitcher and the workflow.

    We listen. We try harder.
