New line request, say P ole Series 1 and 2 - W

I see some use of a slightly modiffied variant of te actual pole series, say W line, able to accomodate wires inside, usb or other kind.
I can see some way to have that in place by, say, a cilindric rotator and base, upper aluminium part in top to have lateral holes for wires, the lower part of the upper part to be removable, i.e. to have only the tubes inside.
There can be 4.5 m usb cable and even more length with an active usb repeater, tested myself.

That can extend area of interes for poles to a wider area of customers like users of video cameras, and ofcourse for the photographers to benefit of live view through usb.
A wired moror drived simple tilt head can be designed if not already exist by third part if not Fanotec.

Not know how to describe this in English, but at the base we can have the kind of device wihch pulls in the cable when the pole is not extended.

fitting a long cable inside pole is difficult or troublesome to operate. the modular design adds to this difficulty.
A wire guide for clipping cable outside is easier to implement.

Are the aluminium parts at the top and bottom end from current Series 2 upper user removable, or them are glued?
Those two little screws on the top seems to be designed to fill the holes and to asure some air cusioned.
Can those two holes to be enlarged by the user to fit a usb cable, only the wire, not the usb plug?

the 2 screws are for safety and adding accessories. you can drill a hole 90 deg from it.
It is not easy to fit a 6m cable inside.

No Ken, the wire will be inside, It will not be 6 meters as I'll not use the lower tube of the Series 2.
I have a disk shaped pole base, so first I'll have to adapt the self retracting reel in the base and so the wire will go up inside the pole. It will be under 5 meters.

I'll not drill the hole untill I have an verified solution for fitting the cable and I'll start in modular thinking, first using colied cord which have a 1:4 elongation ratio, the cable end can go through the mount hole in top for testing and the camera to be fixed by a clamp. i.e. no holes needed to have first setup working.
As the cable can go through 1/4 3/8 adapter a special kind of top adapter can be designed, so is no need to make holes even for the mass use of this.
Also the cable can go through the base of the series 2 upper, already is a hole there.
A cylindrical mount or tripod base can aslo be made for the lower segment of the series 2 using the top part of the last down segment.
If the coiled cord doesn't work then the self retracting reel is the way to go.
Outside is ugly and interfere with the operation needed to extend the pole.

According with the specs them have to cover the length, however first I'll try only for Pole Series 2 upper part, then I'll see how about the Series 2 complete.
The glued base of the upper part of Series 2 stops me to have an empty cilinder from 1.15 m to 6m to have the curled cable freely inside.
I'll report more after those cables will arrive, with free shipping, it can take over a month sometimes.

Personally I'll use for tethering shooting, the images are downloaded through usb and proceesed by notebook and have the panoramas online.
It is a long way until will be done, first step is to have the usb wires, then is to addapt an active twin USB hub to be able to connect both cameras.
For RAWs the wireless solutions aren't fast enough ATM.

That is how I'll use it but once the wires are nicelly inside the pole I'm sure that motor driven tilting camera head will make them attractive for video pole takers as well.

I'll keep you informed about the progress in this issue.
