The manual says that the upper rail offset can be adjusted to +/- 5, 10, 0r 15 degrees. I'm trying to figure out how to set the offset to -5 degrees. However when I look at the assembly, the angle between the pairs holes marked 5, 10 and 15 don't look like they are 5, 10, and 15 degrees apart and when using the holes marked "0" the scale is reading 45.
I feel like I'm missing some necessary information here.

you have to take in mind, that the detend interval of the upper rotator of NN4 is 15°. In case you set the upper rail to the 5° marked holes, you will end up with -10° shooting downwards. The presets are always working with +° settings. In case you like to work with -5° set up, you have to adjust the upper rail to 10° holes. This gives you a preset of +10° on the upper rail. Stepping down by 15° interval, you will end up with -5°. +10° -15° = -5°. Once you have adjusted the upper rail, have a look to the scale ring. Close to -30° mark on the scale ring, you will find a small Hex Screw. Now place the upper rail to -5° position, open the screw with the small tiny hex key that came with the NN4 and set the ring to -5° opposite the 0° mark on the vertical rail. Re fix the screw and you are ready to go. Adjust the ring with a closed Upper Rotator and keep the scale ring close to the upper rail when fixing the screw.
Basic rule: all presets are for positive ° settings. So you can not set the upper rail to -5° as a Preset.

Thank you Heinz! I figured out that I could get what I wanted by using the +10 setting but my scale was reading 75 degrees. I had no idea that the rotating scale was adjustable. I was working under light that was a little too dim last night and didn't see the tiny screw for the scale ring.
Happy you got it. It is difficult to find it anyway. That's what the forum was crated for. To get everybody on the road.
