  1. First pano with D800

    #1

    Hey,

So here we are with first pano shot with D800 and Nikkor 14-24 (I have to confess I'm disappointed with results of 14-24 on D800, I have to work a little more on it to check what happens exactly !) ! Just raw pano, I didn't adjust pictures about lighting and little adjustments but it'll give you an idea of result with all auto stitching made with APG 3.0 Alpa 1:

    and flash interactive version: http://www.skivr.com/temp12/pano.html

    Hi Vincen,

I am disappointed too. Seems to be unsharp for me.

http://photoscala.de/Artikel/Praxist...g-und-Leistung Sorry in german. There a different reports that people are not confident, specially with AF. Plus special reports about D800 14-24.

Seems to be important to shoot AF with Sharpness Priority. Several reports that AF of D700 is better compared to D800. But that does not help you with the D800 in your hand. Good luck and success.

Thanks for link, I could understand more or less thanks to Google Translate ! I have strange feeling that at least the 14-24 lens works better with D3/D3X than D800, it's very strange, lens looks to be too soft, not enough sharpy with D800 !

well I always shoot manual forcus in all matters so AF is not really concerned here, but I'm unable to get it as sharp as on D3 when I check my focus setup on camera, that's really weird, I'm going to do more tests to find where is the issue ! I tested also with the Zeiss 35mm and for that lens not such difference, it's as sharp on D800 as previously on D3/D3X !
Perhaps it's time to find nodal point of the Zeiss 35mm and shoot panos with it now and put 14-24 on retirement

Nice toy you've got there there Vincèn! Business must be good! One thing you can see immediately is the richness of tonal quality and colour fidelity to the pano.

I need also to fine tune my nodal point settings, looks like it's not so good

You are right, sensor is really nice, yet better than D3/D3X for tone and exposure, all the more considering I did no modification from original RAW for that pano !

    Hello Vincèn,

Nice place for testing... Take care of the lens flares! Okay, its a test only!

The D800 camera is great... i hope the Canon will bring a camera like this. The Canon 1D X is to expensive, or i've the hit the jack pot in Las Vegas!
The D800E is a super nice option....
