New Mini Rotators available for Pre Order For R1 / R10

Hi,

Thinking of a Rotator for R1 / R10, thx to Nick listening to us we have new mini rotators:

This is a good upgrade to NN Equipment.

good for cylindrical pano or spherical with big logo at nadir.

why big logo at nadir ? if used with Nikkor 10.5 on FX body, you get full spherical with that mini head no ? well very small nadir footprint as with regular R1 !

I was thinking also about that combo but didn't expect rotator to be a problem in nadir :( hum will have to do few tests with it ;)

I have been using this setup for quite some time. No Nadir problems.



The diameter of the pano head in the picture is a little over 1 foot. Patching the Nadir is so very easy. I have not tried the new rotator so I cannot say how big the footprint is.

how many degree is your nadir?
R1 nadir is less than 25 deg. The QR clamp on Rotator Mini will have a nadir about 35 deg.

How would I measure the degrees?

I know that the footprint is larger than the R1/R10. The pixels at the very bottom of the picture are not useable, so a smaller footprint gains nothing. The larger footprint covers the bad pixels. I use a hand held Nadir patch shot that covers everything quite nicely. This is a case of real world application is different that results found in the lab.

use panorama editor in ptgui. reduce the vertical fov until footprint is cropped. The reduction in angle is your nadir footprint in deg.
alternatively
You measure the diameter of nadir in number of pixels. divided by the length of pano in pixels and times 360 deg.

I just did a panorama with my current settings. As near as I can measure, the footprint is 23-25 degrees. The picture above is with different settings.
