Destiny no need to be sorry. I just quickly saw how the topic could easily explode while it was in the NN4 section.
When I said they do exist... they really do.
Here's my trunk-of-junk on remote issues... Just to give you an idea of what i meant by it could easily explode...

Speaking of remotes -- a while back Nick said he was working on a mechanical shutter release adapter that would fit onto the NN3/4/5. I wonder how that's coming along.
Hi Destiny - just a fyi - I have the gigtube wireless (first edition) and could never really get it to work well - very "iffy". Sometimes it would work (usually in testing) and others not like usually the times I needed it to work. And when it did work seems there was always interference of some sort. Having gone through problems with other Aputure remotes I've never been a big fan of them myself.
Bill
Hi Bill.. emm, well thats technology for you... I really don't want a hahnel either.. since my own was a dud and so was my girlfriends; she sent it back too.. the only other option as far as I can see for this type of remote is the Phottix Hector but its expensive...but looks great.. HD too...
I am still saving up the postage for paying for you to send my your D3s to look after
On the other hand, I am hanging out to buy the new Nickon D4 when I win the lotto.. My new found friend in Japan has one.. She said its just awesome.. She also said the video and images are outstanding.. oh to be rich
Thanks for the info Bill.. I cannot believe they would all be duds.. From my last experience I will make sure I buy from a good dealer where I can get a refund or replacement.. Might even get an extended warranty on it... might be worth while for piece of mind..
Destiny ... Still your No. 1 Ninja
Well.. Pro Hart will be jealous with this... If I were you I would keep it as is just incase you become famous... Then it might be worth heaps.. Another mans junk eemm .... I mean.. another girls junk is other girls treasure... I collect Springs... Love springs... not the big ugly ones.. but rather the beautiful one.. :).. so.. keep the two aside for me at top... LOL...
Destiny..
PS.. I don't see any gigtube wireless remotes in that lot so things might be looking up.. Mind you.. I have yet to see Bills junk pile.. ;)
haha Believe it or not everthing in that pile works. I just made it look like junk for the shot. Some old and some new stuff in there.
No gigtube in that pile. The range I get with this gear is quite far. Let's just say I can control the camera beyond visual range.
mmm... farthest we've gone is about 1000 m or over 3000 ft.
I thought the Promote Control was the only remote that did HDR bracketing ? I am going to order one next week when I receive a deposit for the next job. Should be awesome to do 5, 7, 9, 11+ brackets!
(~$AU340 to my door from bhphotovideo.com)
PS I have a D90 too, awesomely well designed camera.
Remote for cameras is very helpful in so many works... its advanced...
An interesting project is described at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-camera-remote . Whilst it can do HDR exposure sequences, I believe the camera connection it uses cannot do short exposure times (at least not accurately).
