    Hi,

This is my solution: I use a Wimberley P-5 universal camera Plate one hole opened by 7mm bur.

Placed a new M4 Thread in to the original lens holder and used a M4 Imbus screw as Anti Twist screw.

Placed a Mark 19mm from top at the side of the new camera plate to be used as mark for right placement. You can not see the marks of the upper rail clamps anyway.

Cause the lens is mounted to the upper rail instead of the camera body, we get a new LRS.

The new LRS for Nikkor 70-200 mounted with this equipment is 182.

@ Nick: this will be a new challenge for you to design or find a camera plate which will fix to all different lens mount of different long big boy lenses. Even from 70-200 to 300/f2.8 the foot has another design even inside a single branch.

    Cheers,
