This item has been in the "check back soon" category for a long while now, and personally, I am very eager to get it. Handholding the pole against even a light wind made this "test" HDR pano very difficult (as seen by the stitching errors). The original intention was to extend the pole even higher, and I think a solid tripod and adapter would help here!

Anyone else eager for this adapter?

Wish there was a way to pre-order this from Bill...
  4. Compatible Tripods?

    #4

I recently purchased the tripod adapter and am looking forward to doing some pole photography. However, the triopod I currently own is not compatible (no female thread on the bottom of the center column).

Is there a list anywhere of tripod brands and model numbers that are compatible with the tripod adapter? Even just a partial list would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm preparing one but there are some many different tripods in the field.... A future version of the tripod adapter will exist that will be compatible with tripods without thread at bottom of column. I know all Benro Carbon and Aluminium basic models are compatible A/C-157,158,257,258,357,358. You just have to unscrew the hung at bottom of column and you can then screw in column the thread included with the pole and that's it :)

what tripod model do you have? A Manfrotto one? The tripod adapter works for male thread as well.

    Hi Randy,

    these manfrotto models work:

    http://www.manfrotto.com/product/837...section_tripod

    Adapter: http://www.kamera-express.nl/product/manfrotto-190laa-/

http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/...pdf?1272346402 this one works with 190LAA at the end of the center column. You can only use models where center column allows the attachment of the adapter. Not the ones with red leveler ball on top.

    Cheers,

Yes, I have a Manfrotto 055MF3 and just don't see any way to attach the tripod adapter to the bottom of the center column. Just want to make sure I get a compatible replacement!

it seems to have some attachment for strap at center column. Is that removable? what thread does it have?

    Nick,

the 055MF3 has a center column that does not work because there is a screw going from top to end of it. No chance to place the adapter.

    http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/...pdf?1272346397

Rjmyers, you should just try to get the center column and Adapter with these Part numbers, R055.629 = the column, R055.525 = feather with pin for adapter to click it into center column, R055.315 = Adapter for end of column which has a male thread. For the best call your local manfrotto reseller.

On Manfrotto.com >Service, >055 you can find a list of different parts lists like the one I linked on top. There are three sorts of center columns: the one of 055MF3, the button at the base of center column screws to top segment. Similar one with the red leveling ball top, does not works as well. And the R055.629 design, which will work.

A new short center column will not work because it is not very long.

if you mean use the tripod adapter with Pole 1, you can do ti easily using the step-down ring included with tripod adapter :) If you didn't get it, ask your reseller !

Thanks Vincèn. That is exactly what I was referring to. After I bought the pole and the tripod adapter I was told the step-down ring wasn't available yet. I will check back with the NN website support team.
