While we were exhibiting at Photokina last week, we managed to get our hands on the new 8-15mm zoom lens from Canon. We were not allowed to take images from the lens on our own camera but we were allowed to take some shots of the lens itself as well as the image in the viewfinder when set to 8, 12 & 15mm. Here they are:

    Hi Andrew,

I thought you guys would try to do that....

Did you try the new Samyang 8mm as well?

Hope you had a good and interesting time at the kina. Thx for sharing.

    Regards

I saw the new Samyang 8mm for video but didn't try it on a camera. It has tooth geared outer rings for the focus and aperture (which is linear and not stopped) to allow pull focus and smooth aperture change for video work.

They said the optics are the same as the existing lens so the changes are to the body of the lens and of course there's no lens hood but a wide flange set back from the field of view of the lens itself. So should be fine for both reduced and full frame sensors. No price yet.
