I haven't posted for awhile so thought it was about time.

Shot this last Friday from my office window (daytime job) before heading home.

The original shoot was 5 rows of 30 images each of 5 bracketed exposures at -2EV to +2EV for total pixel count in excess of 600million. When I got home I found that I had missed 3 sets of bracketed exposures in the 4th row , so the final image was cut down to 5 rows x 27 columns.

Each bracketed set was processed in Photomatix and for my liking it is probably pushed a little to much. Considering the overall processing at this point took around 6 hours I really didn't feel like going back and starting again.

The mosaic was then stitched together using Autopano Giga and downsized to 30000 x 11440 pixels to beat Photoshop's limitation of 30,000 pixels.

There are lots of stitching errors as this was the first time I have used the Nikkor 24-120 for this type of shoot and I didn't take the time out to sort out any parallax errors.

    Some details:
    Camera: Nikon D300
    Lens: AF-S VR Nikkor 24-120 f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
Panohead: Nodal Ninja NN5 with R-D16 rotator
    Aperture: f/9
    Shutter: 1/80
    ISO: 200
    Focal Length: 120mm
    Dimensions: 30000 x 11440 pixels - 348Mb
    FoV: approx. 120 degrees
    Image Arrangement: 5 x 30 x 3 (rows x columns x bracket)

For all those interested, I have uploaded the mosaic to http://gigapan.org/gigapans/49187/. There are no prizes for the person who can find the most stitching errors.

I've printed this out at 840mm x 300mm and the detail is amazing.

    Cheers
    Tony

P.S. When is Nick going to make a robotic Nodal Ninja to make my job easier? :

Still on the merry-go-round and haven't worked out how to get off, and......don't want to.

    Hi Tony,
Interesting effect with the HDR - you don't see to many HDR mosaics because of the added challenges it brings.
This image also seems cleaner than the gigapan website image.
    Well done!

    Thanks for sharing.
