I've been using PTGui and krpano tools to process my panoramas. And I've been using krpano as a tool to display regular panos and 360 virtual tours. This all works great, except on non Flash devices like the iPhone ... and in 2 weeks my iPad.

Is anyone using a non Flash tool that would work on the iPhone and iPad?

    Thanks.

There are ways to display panorama on the iPhone:
I personally use an app called PangeaVR Pro - (there is a free version).
    http://www.pangeasoft.net/pano/index.html

Also if you post your panoramas onto 360cities.net you can view them directly from the iPhone browser - no app is needed.

And another app coming out soon is Tourwrist
    http://tourwrist.com/

    Cheers

I had the same question and in my quest I came across some jquery options, but they are very primitive.

It seems that krpano is the first with an iPad 'fall back' option. It works surprisingly well.

Yep you just have to be aware that for now KRPano on iPad/iPod manages only individual panos, no virtual tour, but it should be avalaible in near future as Klaus (developer of krpano) is working on it

Apple just published on their website a html5 demo of a VR:
    http://www.apple.com/html5/showcase/vr/

Unfortunately they did not publish a sample code.

And they prevent you to see it if you don't use Safari unless other browsers support HTML5 :-\ Looks like Apple is going more and more Microsoft's way to develop its "own" standards

First of all, they claim "new web standards"... yet these are NOT accepted WEB STANDARDS.

They are using lies and deceit to trick people into believing there are new web standards the Safari browser happens to be the "only" browser to show you...

Clicking it without Safari installed, you get this:

You’ll need to download Safari to view this demo.

This demo was designed with the latest web standards supported by Safari. If you’d like to experience this demo, simply download Safari. It’s free for Mac and PC, and it only takes a few minutes.

Safari For Mac + PC Download Safari
So you download Safari and try again... and if you happen to be a PC user, you will be told that you need a MAC or some other Apple device to see the horrible examples on the site.

The site will not display on a Safari UNLESS it is installed on an Apple device.

So much for the "new standards" : Only if you use Safari and only if you use it on a Mac, can you travel the new standardized web

Installing a whole new browser, is somehow better than installing Flash?

Never mind having to buy new hardware to have that browser to work

    It's getting beyond crazy.

Oh well, I am not here to defend Apple, but there are no browsers yet that have the latest html5 technology built in.
To view the VR demo, the browser must be capable to process CSS 3D Transforms, and currently Safari is the only browser that can do that.
If you take for instance Google's Chrome to this page: http://developer.apple.com/safaridemos/ you can see what is currently supported in Chrome and what not.

But the question here was: Is there a non-Flash tool for the iPhone/Pad and the answer is: yes, I found another one, which seems to be working without having to pay for a special program to create it.
I am currently digging trough the code (together with a friend who is more capable in this sort of thing than I am) to see if it is easy to implement on a site. It looks promising.

I think I've got it working now.

    Here is a testpage
If you visit this url: http://gillissen.com/veerboot the page decides what version of the pano you get.
If you visit is with an iPad: you'll get a large html5 version
If you visit it with an iPhone: you'll get a small html5 version
If you visit it with a system with QuickTime installed, you'll get a QTVR
and all others get a Flash pano.

Why still use QTVR that is obsolete ? all the more QTVR is really slow on Snow Leopard, so I think everyone else (out of iPhone/iPad should get Flash version

Because some of my visitors don't use Flash.
There are some who think it is too dangerous and on OS X Flash doesn't perform wel.

I think people should stop thinking everything Steve Jobs says is truth ! Flash runs well on Mac, both on my MacPro and Macbook with either Firefox or Chrome don't have any issues !

Now that Vincén has washed Steve Jobs' mouth with caustic soda-soap, I have to confirm that Flash runs very well on Macs. QTVR is completely obsolete. Just consider the download of QTVR as the first stepping stone... it's in the tens of MB's, then it has to be installed, which is often a problem in work environments, where people are not allowed to install any software on their corporate computers.

Flash is already installed on 98% of the world's computers, and in case of an update, it is only around 2.4 MB in size, and is installed in seconds.

HTML5 is already installed on ... less than 1% of the world's internet capable computing devices (including iPads, iPhones)

People who think Flash runs badly on Mac's, is dangerous etc. do NOT need QTVR ... rather they need to be told the TRUTH.

just in case nobody saw this.....

    and

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ in case anyone wants to get wound up.

hey i use Flash and QTVR on both platforms and they work well, agree with Vincen that QTVR is now a bit slow on OSX but it still works although now it does look dated considering what you can do in Flash. Lets see if Flash lasts as long as QTVR!
