NN5, B<65mm?

Just started playing with my NN5 and am trying to find the Entrance Pupil of my Sigma 50mmf1/4 on my Canon EOS 40D. It appears I'll need to have B &lt; 65mm. However, I can't seem to move the slide any lower than 65mm since the knob gets in the way. I'm sure there's an easy way around this ... any ideas?

I'm not sure that I understand the problem. Which knob gets in the way of what? I can slide my 40D down to the 33mm scale mark and still screw down the big knob to fix it in position.

As Vincen pointed out, a smaller knob will work.

You should be able to reach at least 45mm with the standard knob. Probably the stop plate is preventing you. Please do the following:

• Remove the camera mounting plate.

• slide the knob to the end of upper rail. Remove it from the rail.

• remove the stop plate and slide the screw to the end of rail to remove it.

• Install the camera mounting knob again. Make sure the rubber ring is at the proper position after installation. The rubber ring should stay between the rail and threads of knob. This is important to prevent the thread from scratching the rail.

sorry to say, but i can reach up to 33 with the NN5 as well as John. Only when you have to use a setting &lt; 33, you have to use the new knob as described in the other answers.

Did you realize, that you can mount the camera plate in two ways concerning the tripod mount screw - the big yellow one. You can only reach 65, when you mount the plate with the long side to the lens. Mounting it with the short side to the lens you can go up to 33.

If you have to go &lt; 33, you might replace the big knob with one of the screws that sits in rail stop plate. Add two metal rings below the head till the cameraplate can be fixed. This is an interims solution till you received the new screw.

First thing i would do is remount your plate with the short side to the lens. Nikkor 50/f1.4 has a upper rail setting of 37.
