1,9 gigapixels panorama of Rouen, France.

After solving quite a bunch of issues on how to stitch this panorama (I have published a first version in September).
Here is the final version of this panorama of Rouen.

325 pictures stitched together in Autopano.
The shots were done with a Canon 5D, 28-300mm lens and a Nodal Ninja 5 panoramic head.
The parameters used are :
- focal length 300mm,
- 100 ISO,
- 1/15 at f/16,
- camera in vertical position.

Nice and very good result for your first gigapan

Two things I would notice:

• why did you use gigapan player ? instead of KRPano (more powerful and easy to use for navigation in my idea) ?
• Better weather for next shooting session

This is a huge panorama - I don't believe people realize the amount of work that goes into making a panorama of this size.

Amazing pano but I really don't like the gigapano interface. The dragging motion is irritating and weird.

To be clear, I used Autopano giga to stitch the pictures.
Inside Autopano you have the possibility to import picture by saying that you shot with a gigapan robot (which is not my case, I did all pictures manually with my Nodal Ninja 5 head. One picture every 2,5¬? horizontally and a line every 5¬?).
I noticed that by using that trick the assembly proposed by Autopano had a better result.
Of course, this is only a trick to improve the beginning of the stitching process.
Then you have to analyze every link that is having a bad mark.

Concerning gigapan viewer and krpano.
The choice is so simple, till now, I did not understand how to use krpano.
If someone can support me on this subject, I will be glad to learn.

As you use AutoPano Giga, it means you have AutoPano Tour included with it (download latest beta from Kolor website) and it allows you to publish your panoramas directly in krpano format without hassles to understand all details You should give it a try

I thought Autopano tour was limited in terms of number of pixels to present a panorama.
I have used Autopano tour to present virtual tour, but the aspect is quite poor.

Poor quality you get is due to the fact you don't have a KRPano licence. When you use AutoPano Tour with a valid KRPano licence, you get full resolution when you produce your virtual visit

Right KRpano is able to publish gigapixel panoramas without problems An example of a virtual tour made with AutoPano Tour (it's not Gigapixel but pretty good quality I think



It includes snow as it's winter now and also map with hotspots and display of webcams of the ski resort

I loved it, but didn't understand that you had done it with a KRPano license.
I will go to autopano website and krpano to see how to purchase it and implement it.

The last point I have to clarify will the way the store the panoramas.
When going to gigapan, I do not take care of the output size, which are often close to 5 or 10 Gb.
I guess that if I create my own tour, I will have to store them somewhere else.
For the time being I do not have my own website (just a blog limited to 4Gb).
