3/8 to 1/4" adapter

It just so happens that I have a Velbon 530 tripod, and I need to use the 3/8 to 1/4 adapter to put my NN3 on. Trouble is when I take the NN3 off the adapter is stuck on my tripod.I tried tightening it more on my Rotator RD-8 but it comes off everytime. Do all tripods have the larger 3/8 threads? Or is my velbon just an oddball. I'm thinking I should get a tripod with the 3/8 thread and then I can just leave the NN3 on it all the time. Anyone have a good choice for a tripod thats not too heavy, but still uses the 3/8" thread?

both thread mounts work but the 3/8 gives a bit more bite and perferred if given a choice. Usually just a good cinch is sufficient (do NOT over tighten). And you always want to rotate in a clockwise manner. If you still have issues make sure the mounting surfaces are cleaned on both rotator and Velbon mount.
