Finally I got my full day timelapse movie of the sky

Hello Forum,

Earlier then expected I raised the 7.5m pole again to capture the sky.
It was full moon at night so I decided not to wait for the show of the burning meteors (*) next week.

I like the 2 night views in the timelapse movie because of the track of the full moon.
The polar star, at approx. 1/4 of the movie height, right under "North", is a little bit difficult to see in the bright night sky but it is the only star that is not moving in the sky of the northern hemisphere.

I hope you like the results of 4214 shots.....

Off-forum I got a message from someone who noted that the sun and moon where raising and going down in the wrong position.

Here is my explanation why there is nothing wrong with the images.
When you lay on the ground with you face upwards pointing to the sky, your arms wide spread, your head pointing to the north and your feet to the south then your left hand is pointing to the east and your right hand is pointing to the west.

The camera is also laying on his back with the lens pointing upwards to the sky, the head of the camera (viewfinder) pointing to north and the feet of the camera (bottom) pointing to south.
Hence the top side of the image is North, the bottom South, the left side East and the right side West.

Because the sunrise in the northern hemisphere is in east it is showed in the timelapse movie at the left (=east) side.

In any "normal" map, drawing, etc. north is always on the top side of the map and east is always at the right side of the map so for the position of east and west it makes a huge difference if you are looking down (to a map) or looking up (to the sky).

In case you also wondered why the sun and moon are moving in the "wrong" direction, I hope this explanation makes it all clear.

Great movie, Wim. Glad to see the fishey comes in handy for things other than stitched panoramas!
