nn3 with d300+14-24mm f2.8

Hi i'm Stefan and i'm planning to buy a nn3+rd12 but i'm cunfused because i don't know if my d300(with or without battery grip)+nikkor 14-24 f2.8 is suitable for this rig.I didn't saw in the table this configuration but i saw the d700+14-24 . will it work? or i would need the bigger nn5?

Without the battery grip it'll work. With the battery grip you'd be better getting the NN5. Also we now only stock the R-D16 as the R-D12 was replaced by the R-D16. Not sure if other suppliers still have stock.

Hi Stefan,

My considerations are based on feedback from other users about the 14-24 lens.

At 14mm, the correct upper rail setting for your equipment would be around 132-136cm, and it can't be reached even with a T-adapter.

That's why I suggested to purchase the Nodal Ninja 5.

thanks for the answers. could you tell me how many pictures will i have to take for a full 360x180 panorama? i remind you that d300 has a x1.5 cropping factor

HI STEFAN,

i just checked th lens settings with the D200, which should be the same as the D300. Upper rail setting for D200 14-24mm/f2.8 is 126. This corresponds with my settings with the D3.

D3 and D200 have distance of 46mm from sensor plane to lens bayonet. I will try to check the rest tommorrow.
