It is such a shame that these sites just decay away till they become dangerous then they get pulled down.

Don't think this place will fall into decay too soon.
It has been restored somewhat and is now a tourist attraction with stores, mine tours, train ride etc.
Admission is free but just about everything else has a fee attached.
Guess it will keep going, and being maintained, as long as it's making money
