detent setting and my camera settings

I just received my NN5 in the mail today and with many tests I found my camera setting as close to perfect as you can get. The settings I found to work best with my Canon 5D Mark II and EF 16 - 35mm L II lens at 16mm are...

Lower Rail with Camera Plate - 54mm
Upper Rail with Camera Plate - 126mm

To do a full 360x180 panorama what is the best detent settings?
If I do 60 degrees for 6 stops around it works out to be 25% overlap but if I do 45 degrees for 8 stops it works out to be 40% overlap... which one is best to use?
What degrees of tilt should I use... If I use -30 degrees on the top rail, I can see my tripod legs in the bottom part of the picture. Is that Okay or should I use a -15 degrees?

Normally 25% overlap should be enough for correct stitching, and you'll need less pictures
For tilt, I would advise 15¬? that should be enough and prevent to get too much tripod legs in view. You can also narrow legs of your tripod to reduce that problem.

yes, you need to move the tripod to compensate for the off-set by the 90 deg center column.
