First I wanted to thank you for picking my name in the contest. I also wanted to thank Bill for all his help. I opted for the NN5L and WOW it is impressive!

From searching the threads I think I have all I need to get off to a running start, I just wanted to see if I was missing something.

    What I have:
Nikon D300 with Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm and NN5L with Arca style Quick Release Clamp
    Lower Rail: NN5 w/CP - 59.5 (plus clamp width?) Upper Rail: 98

Set everything to manual (WB, Focus, A, S)

1 image at -90¬? pitch (Nadir), 4 images every 90¬? at -60¬? pitch, 8 images every 45¬? at 0¬? pitch, 4 images every 90¬? at +60¬? pitch, no zenith image required

    Does this sound about right?
    Thanks
    Paul

if you mount the QR to the camera mounting plate (cp), then you need to add the overall thickness of QR plate and clamp.
In other words, you need to add the extra thickness (or height from base to lens axis) as a result of using the QR system.

Changing the subject - how have you found the Sigma 10-20 lens. At the moment I am using a D300 with the Nikon 18-200 VR but am looking at getting a wider angle option.

I bought the 10-20 and NN5L for a trip to Canada. I got some really nice shots with both. My nephew borrowed the lens one night to use on his D50. I didn't see it for the rest of the night. We were doing some long exposure at night looking over a lake.

I also took some 360X180s with it. With the NN5L and this lens, the hardest part was making sure you feet didn't show up in the shot. With the right ring in place, I could close my eyes and know I was at the right spot. I also used the Phottix Cleon for the wireless remote on the D300. I did have problems with it one night, but that was probably user error. The next day it worked fine.

I think my next buy is a fisheye. The two that come to mind is the 10.5 Nikon and the 8 Sigma. Bill has both, so hopefully he will chime in.

    Thanks Paul,

I have spoken to my local dealer (Isle of Wight, UK) and have ordered the Sigma 10-20.
