    Hi guys,

Thanks for the forum, it should allow me to shoot better. I bought my NN3 from France when it was just released but never had the time to really use it. I'm glad I kept it though! I knew I would put it to good use one day and enjoy it. By the way, I want to send my best regards to the guys who manufactured it and take good care of the forum and the website which are crystal clear.

Actually, I just need to know if the rail settings for a D200 with a nikkor 18-70 posted here are correct: http://www.nodalninja.com/nodal_ninj..._settings.html

    24mm:

    lower rail: NN3 - 53
    NN3 w/CP - 63
    NN5 w/CP - 59.5

    Upper rail: 83.5

    What's w/CP ?

    ------------------------------

    Thank you fellas!

'Hope I can feed you with some Paris' panoramics.

So if I only use the thin Nodal Mounting Plate I don't have to care about the camera one I suppose?

    Hi Daedalus,
The Camera Plate (CP) shown above does add 10mm to the lower rail A settings.
If using the square rubber washer instead of the CP your settings at 18mm focal length would be:

    Lower rail: 53mm
Upper rail: 92mm (83.5mm if using the lens at the 24mm focal length)

Give yourself good overlap when taking the images and you'll be good to go.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Daedalus,

Only the very recent NN3/ NN3II is shipped with the new camera mounting plate. It has same thickness as the T-adapter.

Should I use the T adapter or the square rubber washer?

If I understand, you simply add 10 when using the T adapter/camera mounting plate

either way works. Rubber pad is easier to mount. T-adapter provides better grip and prevent twisting. It is simply a person preference.

The T Adapter seems less accurate.

How do I know if I'm on 18 or 24mm? It's not that accurate on the lens. :-\

Try your best. Add additional labelling on the lens if it helps. Take pictures with more overlap. For indoor pano, you are going to use the shortest focal length (FL), so FL is consistent. For outdoor pano, a small difference in FL is not going to introduce noticeable parallax.
