Tripod Adapter type B and Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod

My Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod has a 25mm tri-facet center column (as measured and as listed on the Manfrotto web site).

The description of the Type B tripod adapter states that it "can be adapter to 28mm or 26mm with a plastic fitting"

Will this adapter work with a 25mm tri-facet center column?

Will the RD8 or RD16 rotators work well with the tripod adapter?

Hi Martin,

I am afraid the 26mm insert won't work for the 25mm center column. I use the 28mm insert for the 28mm center column of Manfrotto. The center column slides in easily but has no extra space between insert and the center column. So the inside is 28mm diameter. The 26mm adapter will leave 1 mm room and I am afraid this will not work to fix the center column.

Do you already own the tripod? In this case you can order another center column for the tripod and order Tripod Adapter Type a with 3/8"screw at the bottom of center column:

In case you do not own it already, you could choose for the 055 Series which use a 28mm center column and order Tripod Adapter Type B.

The Tripod Adapter Type A and B work with all sorts of NN Rotators: Fanotec Pole rotator, RD4 Rotator, and RD8 RD12 RD16 Rotator. They have to be used upside down

I own a 190CXPRO3. Bought it because it was lighter and more compact than the 055 series

The 190CXPRO3 has a plastic plug in the bottom of the center column.

From the parts diagram, I can't tell in an alternate center column with a 3/8 female thread in the
bottom is available.

The description of the type A adapter states that

"Not compatible with all tripods. Does not fit Manfrotto 190XB series or tripods with small diameter
center columns". I assume that this is also true for the 190CX (carbon fiber) series.

I take this to mean that even if I were to find a center column for the 190 with a 3/8" female thread

at the bottom, the type A adapter would not work. Is this correct?

Are there any plans to provive a 55mm plastic insert for the Type B adapter?

you have to buy an extra center column of 190CX3, which you can use with your tripod. http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/...pdf?1328630531 This is a 25mm center column as well. As your local dealer if it can be changed. I changed Center column with my Manfrotto tripods as well. You have to take off the bottom part of the column to adapt it to tripod. Because there are many models of center columns which as well change a lot of times you have this hint on e-store.

@Nick, is it possible to make a 25mm insert and how long will it take?

That should be an easy task. Do you plan to use it for 3m pole or 6m? I don't think the tripod is rigid enough for 6m pole.

I have Nikon D7000/Nikor 10.5 fisheye, a Fuji X100, a NN3 (pre MKII) and a Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 tripod.

I plan to purchase a series 1 pole, a D8 rotator, and type B tripod adapter.

I am ready to order this equipment if and when a 25mm center column adapter is available.

Might be you think of getting a R1 with lens ring for 10.5 and quick Mount Min System. You can split the R1 in Top Part and RD4 Rotator to be used on the Tripod Adapter. Otherwise you have to use the "stripped" NN3 on top of the Pole which is possible but not very convenient.

Get the QMM adapter system. Get the advanced rotator install kit for NN3/ NN3II. Put the anti-twist plate on the QMM and place the lower rail on it, tighten the screw. It is done.
