Remote for cameras

Hi... sorry I haven't been chatting.... and sorry for returning back with the same old issue... My remote was working but then it stopped a few weeks ago so went out and bought new battory for it.. It seems to want to work, when I press it, it seems to want to fire and even the timer setting seems to want to work but the shutter will not go off... I think it might be time to send it back.. but I do not have the packaging it came in so perhaps its time to move on to a new brand... I do not think I would be recommending this product to anyone.. its caused me too many issues.. I was wondering if I have missed something.. The connection is in as tight as it will go.. it seems to want to work.. it goes from red to green... but it does not trip the shutter.... perhaps I need to do something else.. I am sure I have it all set ok... It was working until the battery died.... Perhaps I should have sent it back from the beginning...

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

I have just sent hahnel an email... with a link to this tread... I really love my remote but not when it doesn't work.. I was wondering.. The light comes on and flashes to green and it focuses.. so it must be transmitting.. but the shutter is not released.. Perhaps the battery is not powerful enough.. Just a thought..

I press the test button, it focuses and appears ready to shoot but nothing happens.. When this first happened it was due to the very tight two part connection cable having to be pushed very hard together.. They are connected ok now.. so I think its always been a dud, very temperamental.. ....

If they had learnt from my issue they might have been able to help others.. Good customer service is at the top of my list...

Hi,

Check that the camera can focus to a sharp setting. When I take pics of the NN Panoheads and the focus is in between the rail towards a white background, the shutter release is blocked. It is ready when you see a steady point in the viewfinder.

Thank you Heinz... It focuses ok... I can see the lens focusing when pressing down the remote button.. its fine.. but it fails to trigger the shutter... It focusses fine... It has been working but it stopped.. I did not know why but then I realised it must be the battery.. so I bought a new one... I bought two and tried both just incase it was the battery but its the same... I have made sure the cable are connected ok... I must be missing something.. or forgetting something.... I have tried it on Auto and Manual.. No luck..

I have just tried it all again.. I am sure its a dodgy remote.. I couldn't even turn it off.. Sometimes its necessary to press the remote to make the red light go off but this time I wouldn't even do that.. I had to take the battery out to make it turn off... So... I don't want the same brand but I really like a wireless remote.. any suggestions on which one to buy....? No way will I buy another one of these...

Well, things are looking up.. Hubby just received an email from Garry Gibbs Camera House... saying to send it back for a replacement... :).. I never received an email the first time it would not work... I have asked if I should return without packaging since I threw it away.. oh hum.. silly me.. I did a search online for faults with this wireless remote but could not find any so perhaps its normally reliable..

Hi again.. Well.. I have to do a bit of concluding here... Sorry I realise that this is a Nodal Ninja 4 ticket..

I was asked to send my remote back to Gerry Gibbs Camera Warehouse only to be told that they could no longer get the product.. It was a real shame I had a dud.. A friend of our bought one and it works fine on my camera and hers.. So just bad luck...

The fist time I had issues with my remote I did not get a response back but this time round the the e-store manager has be really helpful in getting back to me very quickly and letting me know how things are going.. I would rate the after sales service very high.. Perhaps my first email went missing...

I was going to buy the Hahnel Inspire Remote Control with Live View Nikon instead since Gerry Gibbs stocks them at a very good price..

... but after reading reviews about the resolution of the monitor, I felt I would pass on it.. Others might not think it to be an issue.. I have therefore decided that I would buy the Gigtube Wireless Digital Viewfinder at about the same price but the receiver is stronger and the image quality is better too.. Unfortunately Gerry Gibbs does not stock this unit.

The e.Store Manager has said they would give me a full refund so as far as buying anything from Gerry Giibbs WH, I would support them since they have shown to be very trustworthy...

When I get my refund I will buy the Aputure Gigtube Wireless Digital Viewfinder.

Be careful to get the new model of Gigtube, it's better, has been improved for multiple features and is supposed to be same price than previous model ! Thats very interesting.. I will let you know who I buy it from before buying it to make sure its the right one.. I am a bit over the remote thing.. This one sounds and.. the link you sent makes it took awesome.... It should be a fun thing to use.. The main advantage I can see is small areas for me.. I was shooting some images in an shop ally-way where it was really narrow.. also it will be great for inside cars... I only have to worry about moving my NN4 round... I have had my NN4 for about a year now I think.. I have moved it heaps of times but it still click into place like new.. It must be really well made inside...

Well Vincèn.. I have just been chatting to my girlfriend who also bought the same wireless remote.. I thought it was working fine for her but she said she sent it back weeks ago.. Same as mine, it was a dud.. Perhaps thats why they do not make it anymore... I am sure they can't all be duds...

So... she is as excited about this new Gigtube Wireless II too.. But we cannot find anyone that sells it... It is still very new so perhaps it will be in shops soon... I have read a bit about it and it's looking really good..

This has gotten us thinking.. There are many motorised pano heads and there are things like this wireless remote.. But.. With this wireless remote, if you want to shoot images of a animal or bird you have to wait for it to come into view.. There is no remote pano head as far as we can find... I am sure there are since this is used in security but not sure if they are remote... Probably very expensive too..

Trying to keep the topic on NN products I'm not sure if it is disrespectful to introduce other heads here. Bill you know this remote head topic can easily be divided into many sub-sections.

I think you'll have to wait few weeks yet as product is brand new and manufacturer just starts shipping it :)

Yes, sorry Vincèn I guess it was detracting away from the NN content.. and.... Rosauro, sorry to you too..! I guess you wouldn't want to hear about my remote issues.. and.... Bill, you know I would never take away the gloss away from any of your products... I guess since I was lead into the Gigtube Wireless by virtue of my dud wireless, I guess it was only natural to make reference to a wireless remote since by virtue of the nature of this live view remote, a wireless remote too would be of benefit..

... still searching for one Vincèn .. I had an email from Aputure telling me that they have been released in limited stocks... When I do buy one I would be mounting on my D90, which will be mounted on my NN4 which is how it was supposed to have been in the first place and always will be since I have no real need for a remote pano head.. it was just a passing thought... ;)

PS.. I had an email from Gerry Gibbs.. He confirmed my remote was a dud.. He couldn't get it to work at all.. I spent hours trying to get it to work.. oh hum!!
