Having the QR Clamp on a NN5, would I be able to simply attach the camera using a Velbon quick release? This would be great because now is a real pain to screw/unscrew the camera ... in case of this being of help, my Velbon tripod model is PHD-41Q

simple. Buy another Velbon QR clamp compatible with your plate and mount it to the camera mounting plate.
if you want to keep it as low profile as possible, you can get this rail plate

Nick,
I don't think that u can buy the QR clamp only.... I have 2 Velbon tripods and the clamp is part of the head....I did a search and nothing came through for the same shoe size. Manfrotto has one but most likely wont be compatible with my tripods... that's why I thought that if the clamp you guys sell can be used it would be good.
This is how my shoes look like....

Hi LRT2010 from XYZ :ohmy:, two nonames ::001_smile:
Your PHD41Q is compatible With QB145. Download: //www.velbon.co.uk/newvelbon/pdf/2010_catalog_velbon%20Jan%208th.pdf
page 13 upper right and lower left. Otherwise you have to take off the ballhead and set NN's QRC on top of the tripod, add one plate to the bottom of the ballhead, the other one below the NN5.

a= 10 mm
b = 40 mm
c= 30 mm
I can't believe you would check for me....you guys are unbelievable!!!!
Thanks Nick.... I guess that I would have to get used to screw camera in and out... there may be an opportunity for you guys to create a clamp for Velbon tripod users... just an idea!
IT would be possible to make the QR system in a way that when it opens/closes, it will do so from both sides simultaneously... of course only with one release knob to be turned... something like this mockup represents:

This would enable "much" wider clamps to be used, and still keep those centrally placed.
