NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
After years of serving me faithfully, the threads of the upper rotator knob got stripped during a shoot last Saturday. When I tried ordering the spare knob, I learned that the lowest possible shipping rate to Poland is 20 dollars. I will probably shell out as I'm without a head now :-), but isn't it a little steep for a $10 item that can be just stuffed inside an envelope?

Re: NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
There is a reseller in your contry:

Cheers

Re: NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
BTW.: Shipments from US, that do not come with ups or something like this take up to 4 weeks, stuck in the douane at the end. Hard to track and trace with normal post. I even lost whole parcels.
Do not dare to think about what might happen to an envelope.

Actually $20 is very inexpensive when shipping internationally and doubt you would find company offering less for small items like this. If you cannot find this part from local resellers what you might do is consider adding a new CP-II
http://store.nodalninja.com/product_p/cp-2.htm (sale priced at only $10)
And if you have the older style NN3 rotator consider an upgrade to the new MKII rotator:
http://store.nodalninja.com/nn3_p/n3ii-r.htm (also sale priced - only $39.95) this will bring new life to your NN3.
You just need to be careful not to exceed the 1lb weight limit to stay within the special International Priority Rate of $20 or it begins to go up allot.

I am using a Manfrotto quick release now so I don't really have a need for a camera plate like this.

I know, I had it upgraded long long time ago ("No more screws to tighten, yee-haw!" :-)).
My NN3 has been beaten heavily, it's bent and bruised here and there, and the arms are not quite at the right angle but overall it really stood to the test of time. These stripped threads are the first real problem resulting from wear and tear.
Thanks for all your replies; NN support is still the best. I'm ordering a new knob in a minute.

AFAIR, the $20 rate is USPS, not UPS. And for $30 you could send two separate padded envelopes with a small knob inside each one - this should greatly reduce risks :-)
Anyway, I'm ordering one. I really need my head :-)

Re: NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
I know, you are quickly around 150 $ for quick delivery with UPS.
But I lost my parcel with USPS, another one used >4 weeks. So never ever again USPS. I try to buy from local resellers, and I think you found yours in poland as well. ::001_smile:

Re: NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
Well, I had ordered this knob a week ago and it arrived today from the US. Ironically, it turned out not to be the right one, so I'm facing another headless week :-)

Possibly. Have a look at http://zbooy.pl/360/temp/nn-knob.jpg, the wrong knob is at the bottom.

Probably but the screw is too long, so I need to file a few mms.

You might consider removing it from the store ;-)

Re: NN3 Mk1 upper rotator knob
I have just cut a bit of this screw and the knob is working fine now. Thanks a lot for your assistance.
