Hong Kong public estate

Hi all,

These works were taken at The Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate from 08/2008 to 4/2009.

Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate was built in the 1960s as a resettlement estate. It is scheduled to be demolished in 2009.

Hi Bill, thanks for yr praise. Without yr product (NN5) and yr site great info, I would not have the stimulation to try this approach for this project. I gained trust from the people I shot because of the panos, and I'm grateful to learn this technique from internet. Thank you.

I would also like to say I just bought the R10 and intend to use it with my sigma 8mm to record the life after the estate relocation. this time it will be interactive VR.

For book publication. The matter seems to be very complicated at the meantime............lack of funds and the ability to write plus no connection with publishing media or more............... I won't rule it out in the future, but I think it is not finished yet. Right now, I 'd rather have a follow up on them after their relocation. After that, will reconsider about it.

brilliant work, beautiful concept plus the energy to go through to let us see such a good result. You can realize this comes from somebody who might give his heart away for this work. :wink:

To set up a book you do not need a publisher in the beginning. If you own a mac, with apple you can set up nice fotobooks on your own, print them with apple, and sell them on your own. This might be a good business to sell them to tourists in upper class hotels or somewhere else...... ::001_smile:

these end up being kind of not too cheap for books of any real size, but you could make up a nice dummy to show to publishers, i would think this would go over well on the art book circuit -

again, awesome work john, i'm fascinated by these busy, cluttered lived in spaces, ive seen old photos of kowloon walled city, i suppose this is somewhat similar....

As most will agree John's work is certainly worthy of review. I was very surprised to see it go a month without comments. I would encourage all members and moderators (myself included) to seek out threads that show 0 replies and make comments - especially in the gallery section.
It's one way to help build enthusiasm for those venturing into panoramic photography and many times we are rewarding ourselves with surprise creative expressions like what John's work here as shown. And this thread actually spawned another thread on Self Publishing books as well :001_smile:
Keep up the great work John - you're an inspiration to many.
