I am not sure the weight would matter that much, especially in the studio.
Could You not mill away most of the inner material as it will be doing virtually nothing.

A second reply to this, thanks to fiero, with the latest DevalVR 0,7,5,6 one can use a single .mov wich can be display with the desired frame offset in a particular DevalVR window (left or right)

Still, the weight is proportional to the cross section area of the rotator. So it increases drastically with the diameter.
