NNUL Renshi, meaning: instructor.
NNUL Kyoshi, meaning: advanced teacher.
NNUL Hanshi, meaning: senior expert.
or
NNUL Heika, meaning: Majesty.
NNUL Denka, meaning: Royal Highness.
NULL Hime, meaning: princess.
(There is one other name in this list, that is NNUL Kakka, meaning: Your Excellency. Among other things  )
I got these from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanes...related_titles.
Ans since this is a contest, I also claim every other name mentioned on that page :001_cool: :001_smile:

The next or the last? Ultimate sounds too final to me. It's Windows Vista Ultimate, but as far as I concerned XP was the Ultimate Windows and I am migrating .
I am sure a few years down the road you will come out with something even better.
Also I agree with other remarks on this thread that NNUL is a killer. I'd respectfully advise to stay away from acronyms as they can only be understood by insiders.
My suggestion: call it the Nodal Ninja Elements series.
Quote:
*One for batch stitching,
Quartz, Diamond, or Crystal - Very regular, repeatable structures. Quartz is used to generate clock frequency. Diamond is the more expensive, so I'd leave it for a v2 or v3 (MkII)
Quote:
*One for maximum portability and simplicity by using a lens ring design,
Air, Oxygen, or Helium - so light they float around us, and so simple and beautiful. Again, you may want to leave yourself room for progression.
Quote:
*One for versatility and functionality that go beyond a pano head.
Acqua - versatile element that is found almost everywhere and in different forms (e.g. ice, steam, salt water, sweet water).
You want to leave yourself room for progression. Look at Apple and the names it gives to its operating systems. it has enough kittens for more than a decade.
An alternative would be to go with the chemical elements / formula themselves, e.g.
- Nodal Ninja Elements C
- Nodal Ninja Elements O2
- Nodal Ninja Elements H20
however that might be a bit too geeky.
Thanks again for the kind sponsorship of our Google Summer of Code effort. Today is the last day of coding for the students. I started to post previews of their achievements. I look forward for your new designs.

Hi Yuv,
All very good points that will be taken into consideration. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
It was our pleasure in sponsoring the Google Summer of Code. I have all your NN's set aside waiting to be shipped :001_smile:
Cheers

Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninjas*****
I think the name would work best if it's as simple and non-code-like as possible. I don't understand "NNUL"-- it communicates "NN" and "NUL" to me, not "Ultimate"-- why not "NNU"? Some great suggestions so far, but I think that marketing-wise, fewer syllables are better than more, non-code-like better than code-like.
(Also, apostrophes are the correct plural modifier ONLY for nouns which are abbreviations. So, "NNUL's" is correct as the plural for "NNUL," but "Nodal Ninjas" is the plural of "Nodal Ninja," and "Nodal Ninja Ultimates" is the plural of "Nodal Ninja Ultimate." I've corrected it in the Subject line of this reply.)
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
My suggestions:
NNUL "EXACT" "X-ACT"
NNUL "RING-O"
NNUL "TOTAL"
New models! Congratulations!
Best regards
Luis
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
something that has come to my mind in the past.
NN UL "Quantum" for batch stitching head. Quantum means fixed values.
"NN UL" without any other name for versatile head in general.
NN UL "Ring" or "Magic" for the lens ring model.

Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
I was thinking of places I would like to use the new models. I would like to take some pano shots from Mt Shasta, a lighthouse on Lake Superior, Diamond Head, HI.
so how about:
Shasta
Superior
Diamond Head
Dean.
(actually, I would be thrilled to use one almost anywhere...)
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
For the batch: NNUL "COOK" or "The COOK" (Serving up a fresh batch of panos!)
For the lens ring: NNUL "LOOP" or "The LOOP"
For the versatile: NNUL "VERT" (Climb Up Beyond the PanoSphere)
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****

NN-UL "Wide" - wide range of use
also I like some alliteration
NN-UL "Fast" - fast, batchable stitching

or the olymipic motto
NN-UL "Fast(er)" - fast, batchable stitching
NN-UL "High(er)" - ring for pole panorama

Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
Hi!
Would like to know more about new products of fanotec, also know more about those rings, would fit great to me!
For the names I propose not to make it complex, people use to get confused. .....
So I propose the simple scale:
NN-UL A
NN-UL B
NN-UL C
And then series of "01" for the versions (NN-UL A01)
Or the other option would be:
NN-UL P (for perfection or precision)
NN-UL S (for small or slim)
NN-UL X (for versality)
Or the last would be (depending of its size):
NN-UL S (small)
NN-UL M (medium)
NN-UL L (large)
NN-UL XL (for other options of the large or plus accesories)
NN-UL XXL (idem plus)
And the last option would be a simple Number scale:
NN-UL 001
NN-UL 002
NN-UL 003
congratulations for the new line!

Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
Batch-Master
Ring-Master
Universal-Master
With later up dates to add number as now. I, II,III
(The ring should also have the lens engraved and angle set.)
(The Batch-Master should have the combination of camera lens marked)
I think a series of this sort should have as much commonality of name as possable.
I am not sure I would like to see "NUL" on a product as it means Nothing and gives a negative connotation.
I would rather see NN Ultimate in full....
I can not find the names I have given with hyphens, as being used in the context of Panoramic hardware.
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
So many upgrade paths coming!
My name submission:
OmniPan
Re: *****Naming Contest for Next Generation Nodal Ninja's*****
My suggestions are -
NN-UL Pro Batch
NN-UL Pro
NN-UL Pro Plus
