I am trying to mount a Nikon D3s (with camera L bracket) and 70-200mm to the M1L upper rail QRC-40A. The lens collar has an Arca Swiss lens mounting plate. The lens mount and the camera bracket are offset by 90 degrees.
Can anyone recommend a "fix"?
The only way I can come up with is to have (2) 210 rails with (2) QRC-40A mounts. One of the QRC-40A would be rotated 90 degrees.
Thanks.

Hi Carroll,
this was my solution a time ago: http://www.nodalninja.com/forum/showthread.php?4537-How-to-use-long-lenses-like-Nikkor-70-200-on-M1-upper-rail
This was the time when we did not have the new camera plates. I mounted directly to the upper rail end clamp QR40A. Another idea is to use a longer rail on the lens collar and mount this directly into the upper rotator clamp in place of Upper Rail. I will check this for you this weekend and let you know.
So long,
Heinz

Hi Heinz,
Thanks for those solutions. Either would work, but I would probably prefer to adjust the upper rail for proper entrance pupil aligment... even though the shots are pretty far away.

Carroll,
the solution shown fixes to Upper end rail Clamp QR40a so the lens can be set to correct entrance pupil alignment by sliding the upper rail.

You can simply mount a MFR-160/170/210 on the lens collar, replacing your plate. You can use 2pcs of 1/4" screw in case for your 70-200mm. or you can use 1pcs of 1/4" screw and get a rail stop as anti-twisting bar.

Note that 1/4" screw for MFR-160 and MFR-170/210 are different. if you get one more MFR-170/210 you can use the 1/4" screw that come from your M1L.
The other solution is to get one more QRC-40A/B and mount it to the upper rail with dovetails in parallel.
