I did my first horizontal pole test this weekend.

Hmm, with Safari on the Mac you should get the html5 version (works fine with me).

Thanks for the compliment, Heinz.

The pole is 3m long which gave me an overhang of appr. 2.5 m
There was quite some extra work after the stitching because there were stitching errors as the shots were handheld.
The 'nadir' patch was easier than I thought it would be though.

I shot the pano from the right side of the window (standing next to my friend) and the 'nadir' shot from the left side.

Here is how I did it:

I had this telescopic garden pole (http://www.gardena.com/opencms/opencms/DE/en/products/Product/index.html?cat=PK425&scat=PK42510&prod=4078500371100&bls=0) in my shed, which I used.

At the bottom I attached the RD8 rotator and a mini tripod with some plumbing stuff (sorry Nick, not as elegant as you would do it... :blush: )

At the top the Ultimate R1

I took my Olympus E-P1 with Zuiko 8mm fullframe FishEye, because I figured my E-5 body would be too heavy for this contraption,

I took one shot 'up' and 6 x 60º shots around with a 15º down tilt which gave me this 'nadir' (can we still call it a nadir this way?),

Note: this is the cube face from the file straight out the patching software, you can see the stitching errors due to the fact that I took the shots hand held.

Because my nadir adapter for the R1 has not arrived yet (it will probably next week) I pointed the R1 down and secured it with a rubber band like this:

And took the patch shot from the other side of the window, which gave me this:

And with a skew transfer it fitted nicely on the 'nadir' cube face and I could mask the parts I needed to patch the hole.

So really nothing spectacular, but it took some careful thinking how it could be done best.

Nice horizontal pano.
I just made a locking adapter for R1 which will lock R1 in 90 deg or 65 deg position. good for pole use without Quick Mount mini and Nadir adapter. :-)

Am I right: Benro mini tripod fixed to RD8 Rotator fixed to gardena pole, spilt R1 ( without rotator ) added to pole adapter plate on top?

You use this whole construction horizontally by holding the benro tripod and rotator in your hand and place the pole on to the metal frame in the window.
Then taking all shots around by using the RD8 rotator from one click stop to another, bring it back in to change R1 to the nadir shot position fixing it with the rubber, taking the nadir shot by moving the construction placed on the metal frame from one side of the window to the opposite site.

So another NL-Tinkerer on NN Forum. Thx for sharing the workflow.

It is a Velbon mini maxi (http://www.velbon.co.uk/newvelbon/pages/ultramaximini.html) tripod, and in the shot sequence you forgot the 'Zenith' shot. The one opposite to the nadir I showed. So it was 8 shots all together.
