View Full Version : Canon 7D / Nodal Ninja 5 / Tokina 10-17mm setting not clear to me

I am struggling at the moment . I am trying to set up my Canon 7D with the Tokina 10-17mm lens. I have the NN5 and I also use the arca-sytyle clamb.
Does anybody has working settings please? My lower rail settings btw are at 53.5 mm. I tried on the upper rail every mm between 90 and 99mm

Does the direction of the parallax shift change between 90 and 99mm? If so, the position for zero shift must lie between those two settings. The entrance pupil position should be roughly at the front knurled (focus) ring. You can set up the head accurately quite quickly and easily. See http://www.johnhpanos.com/epcalib.htm .

referring to http://wiki.panotools.org/Entrance_Pupil_Database URS should be around 96 (L1 + L2 ),
URS: H = 42, you have to add the thickness of the clamp plus for my personal NN5 13 mm for offset. This makes 55 plus thickness of the clamp.
You have to try it with your own NN5.

Thanks for your support - I am currently trying Lower : 53mm and Upper at 96mm
I sometimes have a stitching problem with the zenith - I wonder if this has more to do with the lower setting? could that be?

Stitching errors don't necessarily indicate anything wrong with the panohead settings. How the images are stitched is often the cause. I suggest you check for direct evidence of parallax problems.
