Well the time has come again to upgrade our dedicated servers kicking them up a notch with storage, power and performance. This next upgrade should hold us for awhile. And we'll be integrating the e-store directly into the website. Currently we have two servers - one for website and one for e-store.
Changes include:
E-store integration directly into the website.
Faster and easier checkout with more tools for customers purchasing our products.
Faster loading website pages during peak load times.
More advanced firewall.
New and improved Affiliate program offering a variety of tools.
Live chat (a bit later).
More regular Newsletters.
And we'll have many added behind the scenes administrative benefits.
Future options under consideration would be free panorama hosting for our customers.

We'll be doing all this over the next 2-3 weeks so some delays of service with website and forum may be experienced and we test the waters with the migration. The e-store website integration will be a challenge. We will keep the current e-store up until all products are moved over to the website (est 1-2 months). Those that have made purchases in the past will eventually need to create new e-store accounts to manage and track orders.
The forum should remain intact without visible notice of change.
We'll be doing much as possible behind the scenes but we ask for your patience in the event you experience a hiccup or see our website down for maintenance.

Thank you
Bill

PS - sorry for the typos in email notice - sometimes I just need to slow down and take the time to smell the roses

yes - for sure. I'll grit my teeth, chew my nails and lose a bit of sleep until the processes have been completed.
But I do feel positive it will be seamless.
thx

Good luck with that, I know as technician that sometimes it can go expected and move quickly from a seamless move to a nightmare, so I hope it'll go fine

By the way what software will you be using for new store ?

It's some open Linux based open source software - the name escapes me at the moment as we've looked at about all of them. It'll be much better all around as we can customize the configuration. thx Bill

All the best from me as well. I keep my fingers crossed that everything goes through as you like it.

Hope at the end we can see a big smile on your face.

And thx for telling us about it, also for your mail.

OK - The countdown has begun and we will be flipping the switch from old server to new server at "6pm Phoenix time". This generally takes up to 72hrs to fully propagate globally and we're hoping the transition will run seamlessly. Some visitors however may see the website up and down during the transition. And the forum could be affected so if you see a recent post disappear please just re-post. Also there may be email glitches as well during the weekend and we ask folks to resend any emails if not answered by Monday pm.

We're looking forward to running everything from our new Super Fast Quad-Core XL High Performance Server. With dedicated 100 Mbps port speed this is 10 times faster than older server so hang on!

DONE! Systems are all green here in the US and the world should follow very shortly.

Bad news:
Minor glitches Derek worked out with the custom PHP and looks like we only lost about 2-4 posts - sorry.

Good news:
We can get some sleep tonight.

Wasn't the move of server supposed to mean a change of shopping software ? as I'm still getting the old shop right now on store.nodalninja.com ? Normal ? did I misunderstand something ?

Thanks,

Vincèn

The store is currently hosted on another server. We're working now to migrate to new server but will take a bit more time. Not only do we have to build the new store from ground up we also need to try and migrate over all the admin, product and customer databases. Not a small task and I certainly couldn't do it with Derek.

Bill,

I wish both of you the best for the amount of work in front of you, till now for the forum it seems to work nice, best success for both of you for the store. And, in between, you find time to answer ours questions on the forum.

Amazing, me personally, I would like you to have the strength and power to go on this way, great customer service, quick responses, personal hardware delivered.

Did Obama see your moto on his ...phone...twitter...etc: Yes we can. But there is another one for TNT: sure we can.

I hope both of you Bill and Nick had a copyright of your companies slogans,

and I am not an affiliate, just someone who likes to use your products to try to look beyond horizons, to get a more specific eye for the moment, and I like to be turned around.

Success,

and by the way, Bill, Nick, why do both of you set so much work in upgrading, new hardware, listening??

Cause: your are specially different. From the rest of the "pano guys".

So the next motto: "Cause we are different", "We do more", "Nodal Ninja!", "Fanotec!"....

Thx for your engagement, I do not want to set "cream around your mouth", but your results help me a lot. Thx.

Not so many guys around like you in the global world, specially in a business where one does not sell 100.000's of equipments. Let's try customers, let's offer them the goal of being the winners.

Best Regards,

heinz

Very humbling and kind words - thank you.
We are still a small company but we all "enjoy" what we do. I even get to play with all the toys! So it's not so much all about money.
Our client base is very special and we feel unique relationships to those that also share similar interests. Even the members on this forum seem to show a great deal of respect.
I'm old school business but the world is forcing us to slowly lay down stronger and stronger policies. Some people seek to find loop holes in our system and take advantage of us which ultimately has effect and hurts us all. And believe me we're well aware of the importance of trademark and brand names protection. But "most" folks are genuine so bumps in the roads are just that - we move on.
To learn a little more about us - see "about us".
You asked why we continue to upgrade - when we experience slow servers or website outages we're forced to look for better more reliable service. And the store we have on a 2nd server is not very user friendly to our MAC users. However that server did recently make changes - to little to late though. This is very frustrating for us and may lead visitors elsewhere as a result of trying to access a dead page or can't complete a transaction. Soon the store will be on the new server and we'll have 100% control over all content.
We're optimistic this company will continue to grow forward. This is the 3rd major upgrade in 5 years and I do believe this latest upgrade will last us for many years.
thx again for the kind words
Bill

[joke mode]Oups disappointed lol  I expected a brand new webstore :'( [/joke mode] Good luck with all the move and work to a new webstore, I know all the pain it can be as I did these sort of migrations and it's always a big headache and so much tests and adjustments to get everything ok before you push switch on !
Take your time so you get best results :001_smile:

Well looks like we are finally settling down on the first transition of server migration and the now the forum is now back up. Very minor tweaks yet to do (like the country flags) but we'll work on these little things as time permits.
Thank you for your patience during this move.
