Mounting an R1 onto a monopad

I got different informations and thats why I'm asking here: do I really need the pole adapter to mount an R1 onto a monopod? Has the R1 a build-in 3/8" thread like the R10 or not?

Ups, I guess I found the answer here (http://nodalninja.com/forum/index.php?topic=1059.0) where Nick states that the adapter is needed for the R1.
