Hi Christian,
Welcome to the forum. I believe you'll find most folks using PTGui to stitch.

What is the shortest focal length lens you can use to accomplish this? I own a Sigma 10-20, would that work?
Sure, you can use a Sigma 10-20mm.
I have had successful results with this lens, especially at the 10mm end of the zoom.
See my table on:
http://www.hugha.co.uk/NodalPoint/using_the_nodal_point.htm
I used a friction panohead for the 9 directions in each plane, but 10 directions with a Nodal Ninja should also give a good answer.
I may get an opportunity to see over the weekend.
