Is there a way to make a QTVR pano load quickly on a website. Some load very slow and others are instant, should I reduce the size of the file before I upload it?

The full loading time is simply proportional to the .mov file size. The file size needed depends on the size of the window in which you display the panorama. As a guide, for a good quality fullscreen display, you will need a 2 to 3 MB file. A cubic tile size of 1500 to 1800 will be adequate, generated from an equirectangular image of 6000x3000 to 8000x4000. A smaller cubic tile size will result in a smaller .mov file, but quality is reduced, and you need to consider how much zooming you want to to allow. 3x3 subtiles will also help in enabling the user to see something quicker. Some panos compress to a smaller file more easily depending on the amount of detail in the image. Use the lowest quality setting that you can get away with without introducing obvious compression artifacts such as banding and blocking. In Pano2VR or Pano2QTVR, make sure you select a good interpolator in order to maintain image sharpness - e.g. lanczos3. In Pano2VR, this selection is made on the Settings page.

there is a great article here on pano size, jpg compression, etc - http://slash72.club.fr/gurl/360x180/size_vs_quality.htm
