Hi all,

Anybody here has this couple of camera and lens and NN5 ?

Did you have the position settings for the two arms?

I just receive my NN5 last week and will try to setting my NN5, and i want to confirm my settings

Hi,
Unfortunately we don't have the settings for this lens - it would be great if some out there did.
As we hear back from customers and learn settings we post the findings here on a temp page: http://www.nodalninja.com/html/settings.html
The manual also teaches you how to find these settings: http://nodalninja.com/nodal_ninja_user_manual.html.
I can tell you the lower "A" setting once found will never change.
It really is easy to learn how to find the no parallax point of a lens and we really encourage our customers to learn this. Once learned it will work for any camera/lens at any focal length.
Also here is another link that you might find helpful:
http://www.johnhpanos.com/epcalib.htm
After you do finally learn the settings I hope you might share them with us so we can post them on the website.
Hope this helps.
thx
Bill

Hallo everybody,

working hard on lensdatabase for nikkor i know the work to find out yourself.Though being a "Nikonian" I just googled, and i found this data in another forum for you:

Set up for K10D with NN3 Pentax 10 - 17mm:

Upper rail settings 10mm 90,5

17mm 89.9

6 shots at 0? pitch plus zenith/nadir at 10 mm, 12 shots at +/- 30? plus zenith/nadir at 17mm.

This data comes from Klaus Meyer Australia. I also read, that the lower rail settings for the Pentax K10D and K20D should be the same.

Hope this helps you a little bit and you can start to use your nn to take your photos. I had a manfrotto panohead before and i only can tell you, this is a new life with the Nodal Ninja 5. I was so eager to get it in last December, that i missed the new RD16 rotator. But the RD12 is brilliant too.

All the best

Heinz

Hi Heinz,
Thanks for that. 89.9mm seems pretty exacting given the rails are in 1mm increments.
I see the K10 is same size as K20 - that said the settings may be skewed either from user or website :-(
I should touch bases with Klaus on this.
thx
Bill

I was about to give you my settings for the K20D and 10-17 @10mm, but when the numbers were so out of whack I remembered that I have a Manfrotto RC2 quick-release system on the head, which alters both settings. My manual has "Upper = 96.5, Lower = 57" scribbled on it, so that must be what I came up with... but even that seems whacked.

However, I *can* say that the settings for the K10D and Pentax 10-17mm settings here: http://www.nodalninja.com/html/other_settings.html are not correct, as I spent a few days adjusting and tweaking until I got around to setting up the "big wire mesh and nearby pole" parallax test. The bodies are identical, and the lens hasn't changed, but those numbers did not correspond (obviously) for me.

My result are:
Lower: 64
Upper: 89.5

I precise i have the quick release system on my upper rail

Hi, my panos are not really good with these settings.. i have a NN3 mkII + CP2
do you think John's method is also accurate to find nodal point with fisheye lens ?

Hi,

Use these tutorials and you should be able to find your settings:

http://www.easypano.com/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=1&TopicID=4162

http://wiki.panotools.org/Entrance_Pupil_Database

K10/20 H = 41,6 mm +13mm offset vertical rail = LRS 54,6 mm
Pentax 10 - 17 - in case this is your lens - L1 + L2 = 37,2 mm + 57,8 mm = URS 95mm

You may send a set of pics via www//ge.tt for example to check your results.

Sorry for taking 3 years to come across this post. Just in case anybody is trying to setup the K10D with Pentax DC 10-17mm on a NN3, my figures posted on panoguide were not correct. As far as I recall I only figured this out after applying a lot of scrutiny to get the settings to perfection.

Pentax K10D settings on NN3:
Lower Arm: 55.5mm
Upper Arm:
Sigma DC 18-50mm @ 18mm: 82.5
Pentax DC 10-17mm @ 10mm: 91.5
Pentax DC 10-17mm @ 17mm: 92.5

Hi Paperaussie, do you have CP2 plate on the upper rail ?
