I was wondering: is there a way to increase the tension of the R-3DL?
When my camera is mounted it swings too easily through the stops to my liking.

sorry, there is no way to increase the tension.
hmm, I thought the smoothness was a preferred feature.

Yep, but it depends on the weight of the rotator+camera.

And I did not realize that you couldn't lock it when I bought it, so it is virtually impossible to take a nadir from the tripoid as described in this technique (http://www.rosaurophotography.com/html/technical6.html).
Oh well, I think I should buy a RD8 after all then.

(and i do miss the storage hole for the 1/4" - 3/8" adapter....)

if a lock for nadir shot or transportation is what you need, I may be able to make an external lock. BTW, at 0 deg the 3 detent plungers coincide with one another. they may be strong enough for your camera to take the nadir shot.
sorry no storage hole 1/4"-3/8" adapter. It makes it ugly and is omitted.
