I've been expermimenting with how many shots I need for a good pano.
I shot 3 rows of 12 each (30 degrees down, 0 and 30 degrees up).

Here's 12 shots high and 12 shots low:

Hi jmardy,
When shooting for the web the reduced work flow as you see work fine. When shooting for print the added shots are good as it allows you to use the sweet spot of the lens and does yield a higher resolution output.
Also, looking at your nadir, looks like your upper rail settings might be off a bit. Try sliding your camera on the upper rail a couple of mm's (I would suspect forward movement).
