View Full Version : Any Sweet Spot Settings For Sigma 8mm (3.5) Fish Eye?

I just got this lens and have been experimenting with it. I would welcome any tips regarding settings for outdoor 360 panos with it. Panomundo's site has some tips but I believe they are based on the F4 Sigma.

Here is what is posted on his site ....

"...................... people I've talked with tell me that f4.0 to f5.5 is the best range for their lenses, but in some tests I've done with my Sigma 8mm, f8-f10 gives the sharpest results," ........" Setting the Focus
On the Sigma 8mm, the focus ring shows 3ft. and Infinity with no sub-markings between them, so I usually set my focus right in between there......."

I'm having rather mixed results, but I am new to this

Many thanks,

If you set the focus scale to 3ft, then everything from around 1ft to infinity should be in acceptable focus at f/8. (Do your own careful tests to verify the best setting). Check out hyperfocal distance and depth of field calculators on the web.
