We are looking for names for our new "Nodal Ninja Ultimate" products. As we get names we will post them here for your vote.
The manufacturer may or may not select a name based on popularity but it is good to see what the general public is favoring in the way of given product names. You may vote up to 5 times. We suggest you come back and change your votes as you best see fit as more product names appear.
For detail on how to win one of these new upcoming products and how to participate please visit this thread:

Thank you

Hello Bill,

I hope it is possible to add other names to the poll:

NNUL Batch (can it be more accurate, I don't think so, this is what the first model is designed for).
NNUL Fast (for speed the ring model is best)
NNUL Versatile (and that covers exactly the flag of the last model)

Here's my entries!
Best of Luck to Everyone!
One for batch stitching:
Nodal Ninja Ultimate "Stitcher"
One for maximum portability and simplicity by using a lens ring design:
Nodal Ninja Ultimate "Porto"
One for versatility and functionality that go beyond a pano head:
Nodal Ninja Ultimate "Versa"

Hi Wim,
Thanks for the quick suggestions - I placed your names in the poll.
Of course you can vote for your own names :-)

not to be a spoiler, but if you really want to know it, one option is missing: "none of the above". "Qui Tacet Consentit" -- silence implies consent, but in this case it could be consent with "all the names are good" or consent with "none of them are good".

I was thinking of places I would like to use the new models. I would like to take some pano shots from Mt Shasta, a lighthouse on Lake Superior, Diamond Head, HI.

so how about:

Diamond Head

(actually, I would be thrilled to use one almost anywhere...)

one option is missing: "none of the above".

Hello Yuv,

If you really miss this option then a workaround could be posting names that are suited ;-)

Hello Yuv,

If you really miss this option then a workaround could be posting names that are suited ;-)

I thought that http://nodalninja.com/forum/index.php?topic=296.msg1727#msg1727 was the thread to post names?

Anyway, with all due respect, the suggested workaround is IMO flawed. It assumes that every customer has the time and the skill to invent names. That's not true: the skill is complex enough to warrant university lectures in marketing. There are rigorous processes used to invent truly good and lasting brands. The suggested workaround still leaves out in the cold those customers who do not know about branding but do know about what brand they like and what they don't. And the objective of the poll seems to me to find out what customers like, not to test their branding skills.

No worries if suggestions are posted elsewhere I believe the date stamp on thread postings and will help to cover anyone I might miss for listing in the poll.
Once again you have very valid points in the creation of product names/ branding and these are aspects we are giving thought to. The names will help to draw ideas on trends and afford valuable feedback like the whole NUL thing which we originally did not pick up on.
Even if one name gets 100 more votes than the other doesn't mean the manufacturer will choose that name. It's interesting to see the trends (I like the elements idea) plus allowing folks to input their ideas through a participation in and of itself creates added buzz and a bit of fun while adding to the marketing. Keep the ideas coming :001_smile:

The above list seems a little confusing as which Name corresponds to a specific head. (Except for mine of course) 8-o

Maybe have three separate polls?

Thanks Bill!

too late to change poll structure without starting over - besides my expertise in forum management is still in the learning stages.
I believe the list will show trends. As Yuv pointed out the importance of naming a product and objectives that need to be considered these are all points the manufacturer will ultimately (no pun intended) take into consideration.

Spectra is the title of this Da Vinci drawing (http://www.triada.bg/Gallery/Leonardo/Spectra.htm) about perspective, which is the essence of panoramic technique. It is also what light (the essence of photography) is composed of.

Plus, it's a "strong" (like the NN) word with a common root/meaning in many different languages which makes it readily recognizable and memorable.

Of course you can add 360 to it, in reference to its functionality:

NN Spectra 360
NN Spectra 360 Pro (I would start with Spectra 360 and add Pro to the next version)

i think with the popularity of Nodal Ninja, the next generation should stick to it's line of names as in with Japanese and/or around the same theme like ninja/ warrior/ samurai etc etc

But of course, if NN is looking to redirect their advancement path or bring it inline with any plans or future long term plans they may have, this could be a good time to be sitting down and rethinking the whole concept of naming of the products. To name them along what is to be expected like codenames during product conceptualisation, eg Microsoft Windows and Intel. Blackcomb, Longhorn to Intel's Yorkfield, Yonah, Wolfdale etc etc, then a final product name that is still inline with the companies vision/ mission statement.
