View Full Version : Availability of plate to support MN-323?

Are there any further details as to when we can expect support for the Manfrotto MN-323 QR plate?

I'm about to grind down the supplied camera mounting plate but would prefer to save it if the Manfrotto solution is going to be available.

(History and reason)
I own a Nikon D200 with a MB-D200 grip. Attached to the bottom is a Manfrotto QR plate. Mounting the MN-323 QR base on the supplied upper bracket plate causes issues because the overall depth from lens centre is longer than the bottom bracket - It seems to be about just 4-6mm too short. My only current solution is to grind the supplied camera mounting plate so that its thickness so that when attached to the MN-323 the bottom of the MN-323 QR lever is just above the mounting rail (Horrible description, basically the MN-323 doesn't have a flat base and the base of the lever protrudes)

The existing camera mounting plate is hollow with an attached metal cover.
so it it not practical to grind it down.

I had a local engineering firm make me a special thin one
see posts #4 and#6 in this thread to see pictures.

But it is perhaps better to wait for the new QR that will mount direct.
